5 things that could keep you from getting so angry

So I find that there are certain things that when done make for a much better day than when I don't do them.  As a single mom sometimes it gets hard to do these and then everything seems to be a bigger ordeal for me. Lord help me to do better with that.  I would tell you don't judge me, but I know you are going to do it anyway so I will say please be gracious toward me.

1.  Start the snowball of positive thinking: For me this means prayers of thanks, reading my Bible, listening to positive music, writing a letter to God or to myself, even watching some Veggie Tales (what do you know about those Veggies?)  with my son sometimes.   The reality is there is enough negative that comes at me; why would I invite anything other than a flood of positive truth into my mind and my life? This is the day that the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it...or else!!!  haha just kidding (sort of)

2.  Wash up!: Remember when I said be gracious? My shower is not working properly and for me that means getting a bucket of hot water to the bathroom.  It is amazing how many things can get in the way of that no matter how early I get up, but when I stop everything for the cleaning time I feel like I am washing off all of my burdens and starting fresh.  Some days I have to wash up again when I start to get overwhelmed.  I just pray and scrub the anger away for a nice fresh perspective.  Don't forget to pray while washing up that God cleanse you of anthing that might displease him or plague you.

3. Eat fruits and vegetables: When I am starting to feel down and I can't get back up I eat a salad and it is as if the world comes back into color from black and white. A great sandwhich with the works will do it too. Don't forget just a bit of chocolate or maybe some tea ;)  Thank you Jesus for food!!!!

4. Get Moving: Sometimes I just need to turn on my music and dance off the oncoming blues with a praise to the Lord.  It gets my blood pumping endorphines going and makes me smile from the inside out.  Sometimes I cry from the inside out and that's good for me too.  Other days I walk or stretch and pray. Some days it means cleaning everything in sight. Whatever works best I do it.

5. Get fresh air: Taking my son for a walk does wonders for me.  We walk as far as I can go.  It does wonders for my son too.  His temper could use some boosting too each day.  Don't forget to take the Lord with you on your walk.  He provides great encouragement and comfort.

In case you haven't noticed by now the thing that helps me more than any of these things alone is prayer. I need to invite the Lord into every part of my life to watch him perform miracles on my behalf.  The Bible says to pray without ceasing and I can tell the difference when I don't.  I need the Lord every second of my day and Lord help everyone if we stop allowing God to take the forefront and direct our emotional experiences.  We're all a little crazy, but thank God for keeping us sane.  Insanity is only a thought away.  Maybe these will work for you, but if they don't I know that prayer will.  Talk to God about everything.  He is the best listener ever, even though he already knows everything.
