God is fair and more than fair

Have you ever felt that God was that father that never saw you doing anything right; as if he was ignoring you for your younger mischievous sibling or always pushing you to your limits?  The word says that God is a just God. Isn't JUST another word for FAIR? So if God is fair that means that he does see me trying to follow his word and will for my life, and he does see what other people are doing to and around me.  God's word creates so all of existence must obey his sowing and reaping law which some people call karma.   I think the part that gets me sometimes is the ability for God to be both fair and merciful.  This is what I call being more than fair.  He warns us over and over again about the laws of God that men keep trying to break(I saying trying because the law of God stands we just crumble under it) and about our own lawlessness, then he tells us of an umbrella of salvation that can save us from the downpour of reaping that we have coming which would crush us, then he lets us make a choice. The rain is coming down because we earned it, but he does offer to take the hits.  We may get our feet wet, but if we get soaked it is because we were not under God's umbrella of salvation.  There are however other times when we experience some situations (flash floods) that make it seem as if the umbrella has been lifted or that God forgot about us. My first instinct when that happens is to panic, and wonder how is this happening to me, and why is this happening to me?  I get frustrated and sometimes angry at the world. I usually can eventually eek out a "God please help me". That happened to me yesterday.  I started out being early for work and ended up being late for reasons that no person really could control.  I thought "why is this happening to me God?  I put you first, I am trying to do good for others, but I am being punished for it!"  I began to pray that the Lord would make it alright as I held back tears.  I didn't even know that he had already planned my day for me and I needed to be late for the sake of someone else.  He had already made it work out so that even though I was late the rest of my day was completely unaffected and everything else was on-time.  He used me to help someone and made it so that it didn't hurt anything else.  I didn't feel so great about it, but later when I looked at what happened I was amazed at the glory of God.  My plan was that God get me to work on time, instead he shifted other people so that my lateness (and I mean like 15 min. late!)  didn't effect my job other than some momentary panic on many ends of the equation.  So to recap:  I was on my way to be early to work and got a request to help someone which caused me to be late, but what I expected at work was much different from what actually happened and the rest of our day was right on schedule in spite of my lateness.  God does some crazy things with our lives sometimes, but he is always looking out for us and is always more than fair.  He is merciful; he is just; he is a rewarder of them that seek him diligently; he is righteous; he is a righteous judge; he is worthy of our trust.  He has plans for us and they are great!
