I am not my own and I am not alone
When I decided to follow Christ I accepted that I belong to and with God. This is both humbling and edifying. If I am not my own then that means that I don't exist for my own pleasures and my own whims. God has an idea in mind for me. He has a plan and a mission for me while I am here. It is the only reason that I am here, and when my purpose is done I will return to the father. This doesn't mean that God intends for me to be miserable and get nothing that I want, it just means that my focus should be on him and his direction. There is no room for selfishness or self-centered behavior or thought. I have to be careful to be in tuned with what God is saying to me, and I have to be aware that God is not the only one that has a plan for me. People have all sorts of ideas about how my life should go, and what I should be doing. It also seems that people want to take me for themselves and then take credit for any good that comes out of it. Beware of these people. They may be well intentioned, but if they are pulling in any direction that creates a rift with what God has purposed in you get away. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. It can be overwhelming for me if I forget that God is with me. Everywhere that God sends me he is right there in front, behind, next to, above, and below me. He is all around and through me, God is omnipresent. This makes all things possible. God finishes the work in us and nothing else will ever be able to do that for us. It is God who saves us and who works wonders through us. Salvation and everything that comes with it is the gift of God. I am glad I take the time to get to know who is the author and finisher of my faith. Lord help us to finish what you have started in us. Thank you Emmanuel, God with us.
