Encourage a Mother Today!

I just recently went out of town with my son for the first time, and I was scared out of my wits because I thought he was going to do his regular terrible twos and ruin the trip with my friends.  To my amazement he acted beyond his years.  He traveled like a champ!  When we made it to our destinations he was pleasant with everyone, and I can count on one hand how many fits he had.  He ate like a gentleman and he was a polite as can be.  My friends were impressed.  They told me that sometimes they look at people's children and wonder what they were teaching their children, but that they saw that I was doing great.  I really needed to hear that because I was at the breaking point when I went to see them . I have been tired and frustrated trying to potty train him and remind him of his manners and appropriate ways to express himself.  I thought that all my hard work was for nothing because he continued to yell all the time, fight to get things that he wanted, and arguing like a hormonal teenager.  I thought I was really in for the long haul because the night that I left he just cried and cried without hesitation for any of the distractions and consolations that I offered him.  I prayed and the Lord answered my prayer.  I could hardly believe my eyes.  Thank you Jesus, and thank you to my friends for encouraging me not to give up on trying to teach my son what is right.  He may not do it at home much, but I know now that even when he isn't choosing to follow my instructions he knows what is right to do and can do it.  If you see a mother today or any day please encourage her.  We need all of the edification we can get, and it can mean the difference between a mother giving up and mother pressing forward.  I thank God for the encouragement of my friends and the hand of the Lord on my son.  Be blessed this Mother's Day!

  1. I love this! I'll be sure to encourage all of you hard-working moms in the future. And girl yes we sat in commencement for two hours and he sat there with no fuss and even sat on my lap for a while and behaved! Like I told Jessica, he behaved better than we did LOL. Great job supermom!
