Who is a christian?

For anyone who may not know, a christian is a follower of the teachings of Jesus Christ and someone who believes that Jesus is the son of God who came to the earth to be our perfect example of how to live before dying for the sins of the world so that we could all have a restored relationship with God and live in heaven with him some day.  We also believe that after three days Jesus was raised from the dead and still lives today sitting at the right hand of God.  The Bible says that anyone who believes this in their heart and confesses that with their mouth will be saved.  You see because God is holy he can not even look upon sin, and when we are born we are born into a sinful existance. If we sin one time God can't even look at us and our connection with him is lost.  The sad thing is that we have all sinned.  No one has lived their entire lives without sinning except for Jesus.  Therefore we all are in need of a savior which is Jesus the Christ.  The only way to pay for sin is with death and so Christ died on our behalf.  His sacrifice was so pure that it has the power to wipe away everything that we could ever do to miss the mark in our lives.  By the way the definition of sin isn't just bad things that we do, but missing the mark.  What mark?  The mark of perfection in action in word in our minds or in our hearts.  It's an impossibly high mark to hit on our own, but Christ took on all of our consiquences of our wayward arrows and became sin on our behalf.  He put on our sin and offers anyone who will accept him the title of righteousness of God.  Righteousness is the state of being in right relationship with God.  From there we christians then try to live out our lives in the same loving way that Jesus did being aware that if we make a mistake we are covered and God doesn't see our sin, but he sees his son Jesus.  God actually smiles at us because he sees us as righteous.  Notice he sees us!  That is because our sins are not only covered, but completely wiped out by Jesus' sacrifice for us that he made before any of us were even born. Before we were born Christ made sure to make a way for us to get back together with him.  It is a christians realization of all the Christ has done for them and how precious they must be to him that compels them to want to live their lives in the way that he designed for them, and it is this same realization that should compel us to see how valuable other people are to Christ.  If a christian is sharing the story of Christ with you it is hopefully not because they believe that you are somehow worse than them or to force you to conform to their idea of who you should be.  Hopefully it is because they have experienced the love of Christ and care enough about you not to try to keep the best thing that ever happened to them from you.  God doesn't force himself on anyone, but he does present himself.  The choice is always yours and I urge you to try Jesus out and see how he fits.  He is a 100% garauntee of not only satisfaction, but restoration of every area of your to life that you yield to him.  To all those who accepted Jesus' gift of salvation but never bothered to walk in his ways, you are saved and you are going to heaven, but dare to be a christian and follow him all the way there.
