The Power To Believe

In the scriptures many times people's healings were based on their ability to believe that Jesus was the son of God and that he had the power to heal them.  Salvation for the Christian is purely based on your belief in Jesus as the son of God and the savior who died and rose again paying the debt for our sins.  If you believe than you are saved.  Isn't that easy? Here is another not so little biblical concept that I have found several times in scripture: we receive as many of the promises of God as we believe him for.  In other words you receive what you believe God will do for you according to his word.  If God's word says that if I ask anything in the name of Jesus that he will do it for me than he will, but if I don't believe that he will then it probably won't happen for me. God said that he would bless his people so much that we wouldn't have room to receive it. How many people really believe that? If more of us believed it then we would see more Christians with so much that they are looking for places to donate.  How many of us believe that God really will never leave us nor forsake us? The feeling of loneliness can only stay so long when you believe this in your heart.  There are so many other promises of God to us that we need only believe to receive.  Joseph Prince talks about this in his book Unmerited Favor. Our job as Christians is to believe what God says and follow the teachings of Jesus.  God doesn't lie.  He can't lie because every word that he speaks brings things to pass.  His words speak life.  Therefore if God said something than it is.  There is a great little book called 99 promises of God, and my goal is to read and remind myself of the promises of God and just believe them.  Our power as the children of God is in our ability to believe God.  Even the rest of the world recognizes the importance of believing in yourself, believing in a cause that you are working for, believing in the people in various leadership positions, believing that you can beat disease.  The media sure knows in the power of getting us to believe what they want.  The Advertisement industry lives to try to make it's reader or watchers believe that they need certain products. As an entrapreneur of Mary Kay I am constantly being reminded to believe that I can make a difference in people's lives and I can be successful. If we were to believe every word that God said then our lives would be abundantly blessed and the glory of God would shine brightly in every one of our lives.  Every day for me is a practice in believing God, and every day God says what are you going to believe today? I haven't always heard him because I was busy believing that my life stinks or that no one understands or that the day would be just like any other.  Today I am going to begin the discipline of believing God to be everything that he said he would be to me.  I believe God for health and provision. I believe God for protection and boldness in the Lord.  I believe God for blessings and peace.  I just believe God.  Belief is the source through which God gives us power to live and to live abundantly according to his every word.  No matter what I see and no matter what people say I believe God and I am going to live out his word to see the glory of the Lord revealed.
