Poisoned Success

By now it is no secret that most of us want success, but it can sometimes be the worst thing to happen to a person.  It sounds odd, but the truth is that anything that creates a rift in our relationship with God is a catastrophe including so called success.  An interesting thought that the Lord shared with me today is that he won't give us anything that will keep us from him.  That means that if a certain form of success is going to strain our relationship with God and the things that he has given us to do then it isn't from God.  This form of success is no success at all, but a precurser to stress, strain, and emptiness. The Bible tells us to examine ourselves and this includes in our ambitions. We may be allowing ourselves to be "promoted" right out of our peace and into pieces. We can only find true peace and satisfaction in God's purpose for us because he made us with certain things in mind for us. The worst place in the world to be is OUT of purpose.  Money can't fix the feeling of discomfort deep within.  Neither can friendships or dating relationships fix it. I am not saying that we shouldn't try new things or things that are difficult for us. We can do all things through Christ that strengthens us, but if we lay our fellowship with him aside to do something that we desire then we are not working from a point of strength in Christ but by our own strength and our own form of Godliness which only ends in one way, destruction. It is critical as we all search for the greatness that God has in us that we it is only in his hands that we can grow to be everything that we were meant to be. God made each of us to be a perfect fit somewhere, and true greatness moves us closer to our creator while causing others to wonder how we made it.  It is in that moment that we have the opportunity for the testimony of how God can take us from wherever we were to greatness beyond our understanding. When we lay our burdens at the feet of the Lord he can do wonders that restore us to a place of fulfillment and peace. I believe that he will because he said that he would. In his word it says that he would keep us in perfect peace whose minds are stayed on him.  Don't look for success, seek God and expect success.  In due time God will raise you up and me too. Be blessed.
