Beautifully Hidden

I love the autumn season in the Midwest. Don't get me wrong; the spring and summer show vitality and that is beautiful too.  I however find the most joy in the hidden beauty of the wonderful autumn leaves.  Even as they are dying they give us a view of the beauty they'd been hiding since April, and somehow is seems to give me life to see them.  People can be like this too.  Do you ever notice people that seem to come out of nowhere with some mind blowing statement or captivating decision? It leaves me wondering where they have you been hiding and amazed at how many lives have been touched by their unction to share. People tend to define each other by what they do, but that shouldn't be the most beautiful part of our existence.  We have been created with a purpose and on purpose, and our greatest beauty is in our ability to bring glory to our creator when life presses us.  This is the moment of truth when we have to show what we're made of. Who are we when he have nothing left to show but our witness?  As Christians when we have nothing else we have the spirit of God. We are beacons pointing to the God who created us and loves us. When we move away from self assurance, the true beauty of God's glorious work in us manifests.  When we seem to be at the end of ourselves it is our shining moment to show what God has done in us that no one else saw while they were observing our existence.  There is a greater glory in us.  This glory is in what God has done in us.  It's beautifully hidden in the secret place where it is only us and God.  This is the place where we give God everything that is ailing us and everything that seems to be beating us down.  This is where we exchange our brokenness for the joy of the Lord.  This is where God covers us with Jesus.  When the weathering of our souls causes us to have to live without the spring and summer's nourishment of supple living, we fade away only to show the glory of God that was working in us the whole time.  At this point it's not about HIM living in us anymore; It's about us living in HIM, beautifully hidden in God's everlasting love.  What a beautiful season.
