Giving Up/Quitting
Quitting is one of those things that I can't stand. It hurts my feelings to quit anything because it feels like admitting defeat. I have pushed through many situations in order to create momentum for myself of success. It would have worked perfectly for me except...there are some things that once started need to be abandoned. Here are some things that I believe are worth quitting/giving up according to the Word of God
1. Worry
John 14:1 says "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me"
Mathew 6:31-33 "Therefore take no thought, saying What shall we eat? or , What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things whall be added unto you."
2. Fear
Psalms 27:1 " The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid?"
II Timothy 1:7 "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
3. Revenge
Romans 12:19 "Dearly beloved, avend not yourselves, but rather five place unto wrath: for its written. Vengence is mine; I will repay. saith the Lord."
Leviticus 19:18 "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of they people, but thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself: I am the LORD."
4. Pride
Proverbs 16:18 "Pride goesth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Mathew 24:12 "And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted."
5. Unbelief
Mathew 17:20 "And Jesus said unto them. Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove ; and nothing shall be impossible unto you"
Mark 9:23-24 "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all thing are possivble to him the believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tear, Lord , I believe; help thou mine unbelief."
I suppose quitting isn't a bad thing if the reasons are right. Lord help me to know what to quit and what to hold on to. Some things aren't as obviously bad, but I have to ask myself if what I am doing is making me better. If a project, relationship, or job is not making me better than something has to change. I only have time to get better.
