Eating Organic Feeding on the Truth
Sometimes it gets hard to tell someone who is a Christian and who is not when you walk by them or even hold them a conversation. I think that this is a tragedy caused by the watering down and supplimenting of the Bible. People are saying things are in the Bible that aren't there and applying them to their lives as if they are the authentic word of God. Cute sayings like "God helps those that help themselves" are being given the authority in people's lives as substitutes for the actual word of God and it has left us weak and vulnerable to attacks of sin and evil.
All of us at some point or another has had our spiritual senses dulled in order to accept less than God's best for our lives. Some of us have believed the world's version of love instead of God's and have left Jesus at the aisle to chase after worldly "love". Others of us have left discipleship with the Lord to follow popular personalities who only have a kind of Godliness. Very commonly many of us have left the pursuits of the Kingdom of God for the pursuit of money. One of the saddest scenarios is that too many of us have left families for personal passions. I am not talking about unbelievers, I am talking about the children of God. Our identity has been played down and our spiritual muscles have been in atrophy because we don't bother to exercise our faith enough to pick up the real word of God and feist on it. Instead we've been letting our physical senses and our feelings guide our spiritual determinations. How can the physical body discern spiritual truth?
It is time for all of us who truly wants to live a Christian life to put down the "spiritual" junk food and pick up our Bibles; to stop rejecting the truth and start rejecting the substitutes. We need to cleanse ourselves by the washing of the Word and purge ourselves of the lies that society made sound pretty. This will allow our spiritual eyes to see clearer, our spiritual ears to hear better, and our spiritual heritage to shine brighter. When you've eaten the real thing it's easy to disern a generic brand of truth, and the generic will upset your spirit to the point of rejection. Anything that is not aligned with the Word of God should have no authority in a Christian's decision making process AT ALL. Christians follow Christ! Not Oprah, not Ghandi, not Aristotle, not Dad, not Mom, but Christ alone. This is not to say that society has nothing to offer morally, but it is only a glimps of the truth of the one who created society itself. God is the original and society (sometimes) shows his shadow a bit. Creation does after all have the fingerprint of the creator. When in doubt, Go by the Book! There is no need to accept every brand of truth. Eat the organic truth which is the Word of God.
Ephesians 4: 14-15
14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;
15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:
