Concerning Disease

My family recently found out that someone we love has a rare blood disease that has no cure and would require him to need dialysis every day for the rest of his life.  We are all saddened as we watch nature take its course.  I have another family member who gets dialysis several times a week, and it is inconvenient but allows him to live relatively well.  I couldn't help but think of these people as a carnal example of what Christ does for us spiritually.  We all have a blood disease that flows through us and it's called sin nature.  Our tendencies toward evil have guaranteed our demise if unchecked.  Masking the symptoms with church attendance or donations to charity are not going to save us because acting good is different than being good much like looking healthy is different than being healthy.  We have to apply the cure or else we will find that when the "medicine" wears off we are worse that we were before we started attempting to cover the symptoms.  This is why I believe a lot of people leave church.  Applying medicines helped them to feel good, but when they left the church they continued in constant sin and ended up feeling  hypocritical and/or discouraged.  I believe the church is a hospital for the spiritually in need, however it is up to the individuals whether they seek for a cure or just some pain killers.  When our own essence is destroying us, we can not save ourselves.  We can only cry out for help.  Call on God in the name of Jesus.  The only cure that can save us is a blood saving transfusion from the only begotten son of God. He already made the donation, we just have to say yes and allow the blood to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  1st John 1: 9 says it like this "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."  How does he do this?  "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying,  This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts." Much like you might start looking healthy as you get healthy, you'll find that as God makes you right, you start wanting to do right.  All to the glory of God.  Stop trying to act good and do right and become good and right through the work of God's spirit on the inside of you.  Seek after a relationship with God, and you'll find that you'll be apprehended by what your after (see Philippians 3:12).
