More on Roots Metaphorically speaking

I was studying trying to gain the spiritual understanding of the roots of a plant.  What do they represent?  What do they mean for us today?  The most simple answer came to me.  Roots are the heritage through which we filter all of our physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual stimuli for the purpose of turning them into nourishment for the rest of the plant.  Then I realized that the Bible talks about roots in the parable of the seed sower and some other passages to address where they are planted or plucked up.  In other words where we place our roots has at least as much if not more significance then the roots themselves.  Our focus should be on placing ourselves in fertile ground, in environments where our roots can take in lots of water and nutrients. Where are our roots?  Are they at jobs, education, or in marriages?  Maybe they are rooted in our identities as  parents or caretakers.  I know that I tend to root myself in relationships, but I find that the best thing that I could ever do to nourish myself is root myself in the Word of God and the Word made flesh which is Jesus Christ.  Whatever I depend on is what determines if I blossom or wilt.  I don't like the feeling of depending on family or friends to determine if I will blossom and grow or wilt and die.  Even people who want the best for me can end up starving me to death if I  root myself in them.  But God has all of the nourishment that I could ever need.  God's supply is never ending and his word brings life. Luke 4:4  "And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."  It is easy to become planted and dependent on people and things in this world.  It is easy to become dependent on a job, a boyfriend, transportation, or a computer.  Although we receive resources from these people and things we must not forget that the source of all of the resources is God.  Unless we abide in Him we are sure to be plucked up, burned up, suffocated, or starved out due to the inadequate supplies of this earth.  The good news is that when we saturate ourselves in Jehovah Jirah (meaning God will provide) we will never lack anything."Oh taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. O fear the Lord , ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the Lord shall not want any good thing." Psalms 34:8-10.
